Doctor Schlussel was named #32 of the top 150 optometrists in the nation on Newsweek's America's Best Eye Doctors of 2021. Doctor Schlussel received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from Binghamton University in 1980. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the State College of Optometry in New York in 1984. He has been in private practice for over 30 years.
Doctor Schlussel is currently the managing partner of both private eye care offices in Midtown New York City and West Orange,N.J. In December of 1989, Dr. Schlussel became a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and is currently a prestigious member of this organization. He is also a member of the American Optometric Association along with the New York and New Jersey State Optometric Associations. He has been extensively trained in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease and in the co-management of LASIK.
Over the past 20 years, Dr. Schlussel has developed a dry eye center of excellence within his private office. Having dry eyes himself, he has been successful at treating and managing patients with dry eyes. The Dry Eye Treatment Center of New York and New Jersey offers appointments for the treatment and management of Ocular Surface Disease (Dry Eye Syndrome). Dr. Schlussel regularly answers your vision related questions. Dr. Schlussel recently lectured to a large group of optometrists on the effects of dry eyes on sports performance. Dr. Schlussel has also been rated #1 optometrist on Kev’s Best!
Dr. Schlussel is an avid sports fan following local professional teams namely the NY Mets, NY Knicks and Rangers. He is also a long suffering fan of the NY Jets, but roots for all local teams. He is also a rock music fan going to many local and national concerts throughout the year.
